The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience Packs a Punch of Star Wars Reveals
August 23-26, 2019 saw the Anaheim Convention Center play host to the D23 Expo. Lucasfilm made its presence known across the weekend with an exciting batch of announcements from the Star Wars galaxy.
The Mandalorian Debuts First Official Trailer
Executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were joined onstage by actors Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, and Taika Waititi to show off a brand new trailer and original poster. The first ever live-action Star Wars series premieres on November 12 on Disney+.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – D23 Special Look
Never-before-seen footage from the conclusion of the Skywalker saga was revealed, along with a brand new poster. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams joined starring actors Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Keri Russell, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Naomi Ackie onstage, along with a trio of droid cast members! The Rise of Skywalker will be released in December of 2019.
A new character from The Rise of Skywalker – the jet trooper – was also revealed at Lucasfilm’s special exhibit of original costumes showcasing the evolution of the iconic Star Wars stormtrooper.

Star Wars on Disney+
In addition to The Mandalorian, three Star Wars series projects have been announced for Disney+.
The Emmy-award winning animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars will make its long-awaited return in February of 2020.
Actors Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk will reprise their iconic roles of Cassian Andor and K-2SO in a new series which takes place before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
And the surprise of the weekend came when Kathleen Kennedy welcomed actor Ewan McGregor onstage to announce his return as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new series.

Lucasfilm’s immersive entertainment studio peeled back the curtain on the second installment of Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series. The new story promises new locations, creatures, and playing abilities.

A New Type of Vacation
With Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge welcoming guests at the Disneyland Resort in California, and very soon at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, the Disney Parks and Walt Disney Imagineering teams helped unveil the newest project in Star Wars theme park storytelling: Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. The first-of-its-kind immersive vacation experience is set to arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort.
